Methodology

How Navric scores your fleet.

Navric doesn't invent a proprietary safety metric. It computes your standing the way FMCSA's Safety Measurement System does, then makes every number traceable to the inspection that produced it.

The score

A percentile, not a grade.

Your Navric Score is a fleet safety percentile against carriers with a similar inspection footprint, lower is better. It reconciles all scored BASICs into one verdict line, so a quiet month and a fresh out-of-service inspection can't tell two different stories on the same page.

Each BASIC carries its own FMCSA intervention threshold. “Within threshold” means FMCSA's data does not currently flag that BASIC for intervention. It does not mean zero violations.

Time weighting

Recent events count triple.

SMS time-weights every violation by age. This is why one fresh OOS inspection can move a BASIC more than a year of clean history, and why closing recent items is always the fastest way down.
